Established in 2003 in Chesterfield, UK, CHARM serves the people of the Mulanje area of Malawi. CHARM started through a vision and desire to help the poorest of the poor to help themselves and their families to lead a better life.

The majority of people in the rural areas in Malawi do not have jobs and struggle to feed themselves and their families. The aim of CHARM is to assist these families to gain a sustainable source of income.

CHARM has collected and financed the shipping of a range of goods including desks and chairs, clothes, school books, sports equipment, cycles and bakery equipment. We have constructed a single storey building which has been donated for community use.

Originally our primary purpose was to distribute microloans to enable groups of people to set up their own business. We now offer a range of projects, including metal fabrication, carpentry, tailoring and the sale of solar lights. We have helped hundreds of Malawians to help themselves and their families to lead a better life.

The biggest barrier to prosperity in Malawi is the lack of job opportunities. We are tackling this by equiping people with the skills needed to gain employment or develop their own businesses.

In all we do, our main aim is to help the people of Malawi to help themselves.
