• A note from the chair

This last year has been a sad year, with the tragic death of Mr Oscar Muwawa, our loyal worker and project manager in Malawi. He was a good friend who I had met several times on my trips out there. He had the vision to move the project forward and was successfully doing this when he suddenly passed away last December. He was a lovely man and an excellent worker with great vision. He will be truly missed by myself and the charity. He leaves a wife and 6 children. The oldest two – Stanley and Mags are continuing to run the projects.

The microloan projects in Selima and Mulanje are continuing. The tailoring project has expanded and moved to its own premises in the centre of Mulanje and now trains people from across the surrounding area. The carpentry school is also going well. The training programme has grown significantly and we are now able to provide many skills to otherwise unemployed school-leavers.

The main focus of this year has been fundraising, in order to raise money for the tinsmith project. We will continue to raise money for this project throughout 2013.
