Jenifer 

Jenifer Nyasaland lives in Mwarama village,  a 10-15 minutes’ drive from the Charm’s Training Centre. She is a 27 year old divorced lady with 2 children. 

She  went back to her mother’s  house soon after her divorce and  it was  her  mother who was  providing  daily basis needs  for  her and  her  two  kids, since  she  was unable to put food on the table.

Charm  started supporting  Jenifer  by  enrolling her  to learn skills of  metal work and  fabrication in  the first  class  ever of  the  project  in  2014. She obtained  her  certificate six  months  later after successfully completed  the  training session and  she  get employed  soon after her graduation at  Miracle Welding Shop and  she  is  currently a welder  there.

She is now able to support her family and provide every school necessities to her kids from her wages. Because  of  the  knowledge  and  skills  that  she  gained at  Charm she  is  able to secure  her  job.

Yusuf 

Tailoring Student
Yusuf is an 18 year old boy from Njete village, T/A Nthiramanja in Mulanje. He dropped out of school a few months after his father’s death.  His father left him a sewing machine but he was not able to operate it.

During  2013 January – June  session  enrolment, he  was  enrolled  to  the tailoring project and  he  did his  six  months  training and received  his  certificate.

He  started his own tailoring business  at  his  home  village  using  the sewing  machine  that  his  late  father  left  for  him.  

He  is  now  able  to  provide basis needs for  himself  and his  young sister which  he  found it difficult to do  before  his  training at  Charm.

Christopher

Carpentry and Joinery Student

Christopher  is  a  25 year old married  man from  Kilowe  village, T/A Kadewere in Chiladzuru district. He joined Charm in march  2011 and  he  trained  carpentry  and joinery and  he  finished  it six  months  later.

His  uncle  Mr Malizani  talked  with  the late Oscar  to consider  him  in  the carpentry  project  because  he  had a  Malawi School Certificate  Education(MSCE) certificate  with good  grades  but  was not considered  in any of the  Government  colleges. 

He voluntarily worked as carpentry trainer assistant at Charm for six months after finishing his training. He  then  moved  to  Ndirande, one of  the  townships  in  Blantyre  city where he  get  employed  at maximum coffin and  carpentry workshop.

His  currently lives  there (Ndirande) with  his  family, skills  than  he  gained  in  the  12 months  period  that  he  spent  with Charm  gave  him  enough  confidence  in  himself  and  strength  to marry  and  being  able  to  support  his  family.

He  detached  himself  from his  uncles’  house and usual  help  after  obtaining a certificate since  he  was able  to  make  money  to bring food  on the table.
